It is being reported a bus carrying school children slid off the road at Tormlum, Benbecula, this morning.
Heavy snow overnight has left island roads in dangerous conditions this morning.
Am Pàipear has contacted Comhairle nan Eilean Siar for confirmation regarding the Torlum incident.
Apparently all children were removed from the bus, transferred to another, and taken onwards to Balivanich School and Sgoil Lionacleit.
Am Pàipear visited the village at 11.30am and found no sign of the bus. However, the road was found covered in snow and seemingly ungritted.
Torlum, like many side roads, is deemed priority 3 by council policy (available here) and as such should be gritted by 9.30am. However, at 11.30am this morning, the road appeared to have not yet been gritted.
Again, Am Pàipear has asked Comhairle nan Eilean Siar why this was the case.
