Convenor congratulates Hebridean Celtic Festival on their 15th anniversary

As the 2010 Hebridean Celtic Festival begins in Stornoway today (Wednesday 14th July 2010), Convenor of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Alex MacDonald said:

‘Now in its 15th year, the Hebridean Celtic Festival continues to be an excellent showcase of Celtic music, language and culture and is truly a landmark event on the social calendar of the islands. Over the years the Festival has gone from strength to strength and the national and international interest which has grown considerably over the years is testament to the hard work of Festival Director Caroline MacLennan and her committee. I would also like to congratulate Runrig, who this week were inducted into the Festival Hall of Fame and received the accolade of Best Show at the Big Blue Marquee for their 2005 gig. Runrig will again headline this years Festival and attendees are ensured a fantastic show. I wish the 2010 Festival every success and although good weather cannot be guaranteed, I am confident this will be one of the most successful Festival’s to date’.

The Hebridean Celtic Festival receives significant funding from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. For more information on the Festival and to view the full programme visit www.hebceltfest.co.uk
