Open letter re:
Petition from the Friends of Murdo MacKenzie
As a member, I urge the board of directors to acknowledge and consider this issue. Storas Uibhist is a Community based organization and by ignoring the petition is not going with the best interests and the wishes of the community.
I understand that the petition is backing what was to be a project open for the use of the community. Is not Storas Uibhist knocking back something that was planned for the good of the community without first checking on the members views and opinions?
It is sad that a community organization has the effect [of] incurring fear into their members as a number were scared to put their names to the petition in case of some form of repercussion from their “Land Lord”.
Again, I ask that the action against Murdo MacKenzie and his project be reconsidered. Are the Board of Directors asking for a petition from the members to ‘give weight to the document? Please do not alienate Storas Uibhist and the board of directors from the community as currently this is the path it is heading on.
Yours sincerely,
Lilian MacLennan
