MacNeil supports Advocacy service
16 April
SNP Candidate for Na h-Eileanan an Iar parliamentary constituency, Angs MacNeil, has lent his support to the retention of funding for the advocacy service in the Western Isles.
Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar are proposing cuts of £63k to the service, which would mean the loss of 2 posts within the organisation.
Commenting Mr MacNeil said: ‘This is an organisation that does a lot of good work with adults with learning difficulties in the islands, and the loss of this vital Comhairle funding would be a huge blow to both the organisation and the adults that they support.
‘Over the past few years I have seen at first hand the power of work the Advocacy service do in the Western Isles, and the loss of this funding would be a backward step for an organisation that have been of enormous benefit to those with learning difficulties in the Western Isles.
‘I hope that councillors will scrutinise this recommendation and come to the right decision.’
