Major fire at West Minch Salmon
A major fire broke out around lunchtime today at West Minch Salmon’s headquarters at Gramsdale, Benbecula.
The fire services were called and two appliances, one from Lochmaddy and one from Benbecula arrived within minutes. The fire, which began in the polystyrene box store was very quickly brought under control, although the fire brigade continue to douse the building. No-one was hurt in the incident.
The building suffered superficial damage but most of the damage is smoke related. The police are also in attendance.
