Financial support to upgrade hall
Benbecula Community Centre in Balivanich has been awarded a £50,000 grant from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to help install a wind turbine. The hall committee also plans to create parking, including spaces for disabled drivers, a path, outside lighting, fencing and some landscaping.
The external works were not undertaken when the centre was built in 2008 as it was expected to share the costs with the new Balivanich primary school which was anticipated to be built next door. However, the site for the proposed school was later shifted.
