Am Pàipear is Community Newspaper of the Year

THE Am Pàipear team were delighted to receive the news last month that your community newspaper had been singled out for the Community Newspaper of the Year award.

As the February issue arrives in the shops, the Am Pàipear team will be in Nairn at the Highlands & Islands Media Awards collecting the prize.
Editor of Am Pàipear, Helena Coxshall said; ‘We are delighted to be picking up this award and would like to thank all our readers, sponsors and contributors, without whom it would be impossible for us to be considered for this prestigious honour.’

‘We would like to dedicate this award to the whole community and all our supporters. Am Pàipear is a community newspaper in every sense of the word and everyone who is associated with the paper, either by supporting us financially with advertising, by regularly contributing the high quality writing that we are blessed with each month or by simply buying the paper should take pride in this tremendous achievement.

‘You are all winners of this award,’ said Helena, ‘and we are proud to dedicate it to the community as a whole.’

But we at Am Pàipear will not be resting on our laurels. We will soon be providing our readers with not just monthly, but daily news and a daily updated events calendar with the launch of a brand new website in March.

Also launching in March will be the Am Pàipear Corridor Gallery, exhibiting Uist artists, and look out for new regular columns in the Community Newspaper of the Year!
